A normal life is dangerous.
Jessie Tacket’s off-the-grid status is about to change. Her guardian, Detective Victoria Tacket, wants Jessie to have a normal life, even though she’s genetically enhanced. With a rogue general hunting the teen and a federal agent probing into her past, normal could be deadly.
A normal life is vital.
Detective Vick Tacket longs for Jessie to have a regular, people-filled life instead of the fear-driven, unseen existence the girl’s known since the general abducted her and forced her to commit crimes. To accomplish that, she must protect Jessie from the two men who threaten her.
Vick works to contain the agent asking questions about her new dependent. She also presses Jessie for details about her past, hoping to learn enough to locate the general, because she believes his arrest will free Jessie from fear. However, Jessie refuses to share that information and warns Vick she’s no match for him.
Goals collide as Jessie strives to keep her Golden City, New York location from leaking while Vick pushes her to be a typical teen. A normal life might be more than Jessie can handle—and it could mean danger for her and Vick.
